Northern Drama Acting School was founded in 2010 by Casting Director Jo Adamson-Parker and aims to provide a practical and progressive training ground for actors in the North introducing students to key industry professionals.
'If you don't feel as an actor, why then should we as an audience feel?'
At Northern Drama we focus predominantly on developing a real, natural style of acting. NDAS encourages the actor to 'not act'. We want to see you feel the characters emotions and be in that moment.
Our teaching style is informal and professional - you will learn but you will also have fun in a supportive environment. We believe in building confidence and trust with our students and bringing out the best in them to make them the best performers they can be. All our students are encouraged to critique and support each other as we recognise the value of learning from your peers.
'I was meeting actors in Leeds who felt like they were the only ones here and so I wanted to provide them with a network of other actors in the area and a safe environment in which to explore their craft.'
The majority of our students are professional actors who attend for goal progression but some attend for confidence building or as a hobby. Whatever your reason, we will push you as much as you want to be pushed.
We're ambitious too and love to see our students on screen and stage. Students have recently been seen in 'Emmerdale', 'Coronation Street', 'Hollyoaks', 'DCI Banks', several features, shorts and tons of theatre! We aim to be the Leeds acting class of choice and set a very high standard for ourselves and the people we work with.
